Travel to Bald Head Island
Take a ferry
To get on to the island, you will take a 20 minute ferry to the island from Deep Point Marina in Southport, NC. You will leave your car in a secure lot on the mainland at the marina; the cost of parking is $13 per day. You should plan to arrive at Deep Point Marina 30-45 minutes prior to your planned ferry departure time to allow enough time to drop off your luggage, park your vehicle and walk back down to the loading zone.
We recommend you book your arrival and departure ferry reservations as soon as possible. Sunday morning departure times can sell out quickly. Ferry tickets are $23 round trip. Please visit the ferry site for more information on the ferry tickets and schedule.
What to bring
The BHI Ferry guidelines suggest limiting luggage to 3 pieces per person, including grocery bins. This excludes all personal items or bags you are able to hand carry onto the ferry.

There is a grocery store on the island called the Maritime Market. It is open 7 Days a week with variable hours. It is a full grocery with beer & wine, but no liquor. If you plan to bring groceries to the island via the ferry, pack them in large bins with secure lids and be sure to label them with your name, contact info, and rental address.

Ride the tram
After you arrive on the island, you should check in with the tram drivers who will direct you to your assigned tram. You are then responsible for collecting your checked luggage and loading it onto your designated tram. A tram driver will take you to your rental location along with your belongings. Tram reservations should be made at the same time that you book your ferry tickets (ideally at the time of booking your weekend housing). The tram is included in the price of your ferry ticket.
Start cruising
Once you are on the island, you will travel primarily by golf cart. If you rented a home for the weekend, golf carts will be included in your rental - larger homes typically have more than one cart.

Fully charged golf carts have about 90 mins of run time, so be sure to charge your cart at your house when you're not using it.
